On October 22, 2014, the PowWow Pond Council will be holding its annual meeting at the Kingston Library at 7pm.  All are welcome to attend.  We will be electing our board members as well as discussing the most recent events surrounding the conservation and the protection of our pond.  Anyone who is interested in running for a board position should let us know prior to the start of the meeting.  We will hold a Q&A session and look to create a new committee to run the PowWow Pond annual fundraising and awareness events.

 

 

 2014 Exotic Milfiol Treatment a success

On Monday July 7th over 50 acres of the pond were treated with great success for Invasive Exotic milfoil.

 

Kingston Warrant Article Passes, Funding for 2014 treatment year secure.

As you can imagine, anytime town members gather to vote on budget items, there never seems to be enough funds to go around. In this fiscal climate many towns are cutting back on services.

However the people of Kingston have made their voices heard! With the appropriated funds, Kingston will be able to treat nearly 60 acres of Milfoil through DASH and Herbicide treatments.

Council Conducts Water Quality Sampling

May 30th, 2012- Beginning in May, Powwow Pond Council volunteers collected water samples as part of the Volunteer Lake Assessment Program administered through DES. Samples will be collected in May, June, and August and analyzed at the DES lab in Concord. Parameters such as turbidity, conductivity, total phosphorus, and total chlorophyll will be measured to add to the data on the pond. Volunteers attended a training session and were visited by a DES biologist to ensure proper collection techniques are followed.
